The NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) is a partnership between the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Newcastle University. The aim of the centre is to comprehensively address the complex health care needs of the older people, based on an advanced understanding of the ageing process and age-related disease. It is one of 20 BRCs across England awarded major funding from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to carry out world-class translational research and experimental medicine that benefits patients
