Sustainable Health Enterprises (SHE) Companies
Sustainable Health Enterprises (SHE) is an organization that focuses on locally manufacturing and distributing affordable, eco-friendly menstrual pads for women and girls. Founded by Elizabeth Scharpf and three MIT interns, SHE discovered that banana fiber was the most effective material to use in their pads during a trip to Rwanda. They have since become a leading contributor to global menstrual hygiene guidelines published by the WHO, UNICEF, and WaterAid. With their entrepreneurial approach to sustainable socio-economic change, SHE has reached a total of 4.3 million people with menstrual hygiene management awareness.
