SpaMedica is a provider of medical eye care and cataract surgery on behalf of the NHS. Beyond cataract surgery, other NHS ophthalmology services offered include treatments for Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), YAG Laser Capsulotomy for posterior lens capsule opacification and Vitrectomy if required after cataract surgery. SpaMedica is a partner of the Veonet group, working in collaboration with other leading ophthalmology partners across Europe, sharing expertise and knowledge, delivering best-practice care and high-quality outcomes to all patients. The company performs over 18 000 surgeries each year across its hospital network to some of the UK's most experienced and reputable Consultant Ophthalmologists. In March 2020, Nordic Capital bought SpaMedica from CBPE Capital in an accelerated deal. The sale process was sped up amidst concern that the Coronavirus pandemic could impact the deal. After the agreement, SpaMedica became a subsidiary and operated under its own brand.
