Extracellular Matrix Regeneration Laboratory, Department of Health Sciences and Technology, ETH Zürich Research Labs
By 2030 almost every fourth person will be 65 or older in Switzerland, Europe, and USA. Since old age is the main risk factor for developing cancer, neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, and metabolic diseases, as well as other age-related pathologies, the growing elderly population poses an immense social and financial challenge. The aim of the Extracellular Matrix Regeneration Laboratory is to determine the molecular mechanism(s) that prolong health during aging, using the nematode C. elegans, in order to develop novel strategies to treat age-related pathologies.
